THIS FEELS SO WRONG

I’LL SAY A PRAYER

It was the Yarzeit or Jewish anniversary of Jason’s death day. I put out a memorial candle for him. I decided to attend services at my temple; this was something that I did so infrequently that I could count only a few occasions where I had gone into temple in the last 25 years. I sat with a good friend and she held my hand. Being able to see made such a difference. On the following day, my temple had invited me to share my music for one hour. How wonderful it would be to have my eyesight for that! My gratitude for my life was overflowing. I cried tears of joy as I stood up to say a memorial prayer. Continue reading

AS I GROW OLD

In honor of Father’s Day, I am sharing a brand new song, which I wrote last week. It is called, “With Me.”

With me, when I was born, with me as I mourn
With me in every song, with me to keep me strong
With me every day, with me in every way
With me and always near, you take away my fear
With me when I ache, with me as I awake
With me when I weep, your’re with me while I’m asleep
With me when I cry, with me when I die
Watching my life unfold, you’re with me, as I grow old . . . Continue reading

THE GIFT THAT I WAS GIVEN

It was when I became a writer, that I achieved clarity in my life. Expressing my feelings has completely changed my thought process. For decades, I faced constant challenges and considered it “weak” to express my feelings; I felt like it was a luxury to do that. I still have challenges, but have chosen to see that sharing my feelings allows me to feel more connected to lifeI am still first and foremost a songwriter. I might be very focused upon my book, but when I give birth to a song – I am stopped in my tracks. The whole process fills me with amazement. I cannot control it. The music that has healed me continues to play in my life. My innermost feelings surfaced again this past week as a new melody began to play and the lyrics unfolded. My new inspirational song expresses how grateful I am that I turned my life around. Continue reading

TO HAVE COURAGE OR BEAK CAREFUL

Tiki flew into our lives about two years ago when my housekeeper, Rosa, came arrived for work and calmly stated that she had a bird in her car. It was gorgeous! This bird was the color of a popsicle – “mango colors” of yellow gradating to orange, with green wings and blue tail-feathers. Continue reading
