BESIDE ME ALWAYS – PART 5

Even though it’s been three decades, I kept my promise to Jason. At his funeral I announced tearfully, “I will keep his memory alive!”
Jason is very much a part of my music and songs. When I sing, I feel spiritually connected to him. Continue reading

LET LOVE SHINE A LIGHT

I thanked God for my music; it was such sweet comfort and soothed my aching heart. I was in absolute awe that those meditation recordings filling that ICU room were my own creations. I grinned when one of the doctors commented. He said, “All of the staff are in a Zen-like state listening to your music.” Continue reading

AT THIS VERY MOMENT

I celebrate many things. At the top of my list is my health. I can see well enough to drive, paint and play tennis. I can sing my heart out to a loving audience anytime I want to. I have amazing children whom I adore. All three are close to me, despite the physical distance with two of them. My deceased son, Jason, continues to live on in my music and songs. Continue reading

THERE ARE NO WORDS

It turned out there were words for me to find and I’m really glad I could finally write something today for this blog. Anything that can pierce the numbness inside of me feels worth writing about, even if it is as simple as a visit with my daughter at the park. Continue reading

IT’S OKAY TO CRY AWHILE

I was listening to my song “In Every Smile.” Even though I sang those words to my children, I heard my parents saying those words to me. Despite the hot pain throbbing on both sides of my ankle, I kept going. I thought about my mother and father and I heard their comforting voices. I could feel their presence; they were on either side, holding me up. Continue reading
