When I composed “The Door” in 2012, my song felt like it was a huge secret. The fact that I was miserable in my marriage was not a secret to people whom I was close with. Originally my last line of my song was, “I walked out the door.” A door is not only a metaphor for leaving, but also for entering. So instead of saying “walk out the door” I decided my last line would be “I went through the door.” And you don’t know what’s on the other side! Continue reading →
