HEALING THE DAUGHTER’S HEART

I had a flash. It was time for me to join the fourth support group in my life! I decided to call it ”Role Reversal with our Parents.” Actually, “Healing the Daughter’s Heart” was what ended up coming to mind. Only last night when my father was eating dinner at our house, did I realize how far things have switched. I actually admonished my dad to stop “spitting” corn. MY RETREAT FROM WITHDRAWAL TO REFUGE

The background for how I met these moms goes back to May of 2003. At that time, I attended a very special retreat. It was called “Healing the Mother’s Heart Retreat, and it was a one-day overnight for mothers of special needs children. I recently received an email about it happening again this year, and I always recommend this experience to other moms that are struggling with raising a special needs child. Continue reading

OPENING THE GATES TO OUR HEARTS

When I first met Magda while playing tennis, I had not yet lost my child. We became friends through our common interest, the enjoyment of tennis. She loved children, and when Jason was born she was extremely caring. After losing a child, I learned things about many people and their pain. Friends and other humans shared pain with me that they had kept hidden prior to that. Many people bury their pain so that they can carry on a “normal” existence. After Jason died, many people shared their own grief experience with me. Continue reading
