THIS FEELS SO WRONG

My post title is a line of lyrics from my song “The Unknown.” My song changed the direction of my life because it led me to divorce my husband after 31 years of marriage. Continue reading

THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT

I wish I could have inspired people by having persevered in my marriage through so much adversity, but it’s just not possible for me to do that. This might sound like a woman in her 50’s who simply “found herself” and is off gallivanting. But it’s not. It’s about a girl who got married very young, stuck with it through thick and thin, and feels like she deserves more from life. Continue reading

MY HEART WAS LIKE STONE

Writing this story was extremely painful because he and I never even discussed why I wanted to end our marriage. Our communication was non-existent for years and years. When I finally was able to tell him that I wanted to end our marriage, there was little discussion other than how we would tell our children. I was relieved because I did not want to feel his wrath. Continue reading

YOU’RE NOT THE ONE – PART 2

I realize that I had no idea what it meant to find “the one.” I married when I was twenty and until this year I never lived on my own. I am certain I was far too young to have gotten married. I stayed married when the odds were against it. I stuck with my decision for 31 years and celebrate the beautiful children that my husband and I created together. Continue reading

WITH ALL THIS PAIN, I CAN’T REMAIN – PART 1

The title of this post is a line of lyrics from my song “The Unknown.” I have not shared that song yet because it is very personal and painful for me. The words “With all this pain, I can’t remain,” relates to three things in my life: my marriage, my eyesight and my feelings about grief. Continue reading

IT’S NO SECRET ANYMORE

I see great value in what I am doing with my life and where I am going. I am unapologetic. I believe I am the richest woman in the world!
There is a wonderful line in one of my songs. It is, “I go to places that heal me.” That is what my life is about; I heal myself and hope to heal other people, too. Continue reading

SO LITTLE WAS REQUIRED

Although it was sunny outside, I was in a dark place. It was difficult not to cry. My eyes were teary as I told her that once again I felt beaten down by life. It was harder for me to smile because my eyesight was bothering me terribly. Continue reading

YOU HAVE NO HOPE

It seemed that she had a lot more to say on the topic of optimism and grief. The post was named Killing Optimism. Her words were searing and the amputation of her soul was complete. It made me realize how foolish grief comparisons were between the loss of a child versus a soul mate. Clearly her amputated soul was nothing I would ever want to measure. Continue reading

MY DREAM – PART 1

It was the weekend before the 4th of July when I finally found the courage to tell my husband that our marriage was over. He was shocked, as I knew he would be. I found it interesting that he did not see it coming, considering how distant we were from each other. When I mentioned that, he admitted that he accepted the situation because, and these were his words: “Change is hard.” Continue reading
