I SING FROM MY HEART, PART 1

I have improved over the course of when I first started recording with George Reich. Initially, I sang many of my songs in keys that were too high. Sometimes, I didn’t consider nuances of tempo, retard endings, or song format. Despite all of that, I am amazed at the beauty of George’s arrangements and consider the biggest improvement of all my singing ability. Therefore, since I want my music to be part of my story – I want to have the best vocals I am capable of.

NO WORDS FOR YOU-PART 1

I am a singer/songwriter clearly who was influenced by the music of the 1970’s. One of the songs I used to sing was “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” I’m certain that was my inspiration for “No Words” was that song. My three stanzas were written when I was probably seventeen years old. I did not remember any of the melody except perhaps for the very first line. Continue reading

SHARING JOY AND MY HEARTACHE, TOO

For certain, I feel pressure to market something that I could sell, which would allow me to continue my creative pursuits. HOW I LIVED WITHOUT YOU

All this week, a melancholy feeling enveloped me as the melody to my song; “You Were There” kept looping in my head. Although I was in the process of recording another song, the music invaded my soul. However, my sadness wasn’t just about my mother’s situation. An “anniversary of the heart” was approaching. The date of Cheryl’s death was February 1st, and it would be two years since she died of breast cancer. The title for this post comes from my song “Just a Tune,” which I wrote for Cheryl.
