I STILL REMEMBER THE LAUGHTER WE SHARED

Today, the new person that I am had an adventure. I am please to share that I had a joyful memory that reminded me of my youth. I felt like I was twenty years old again! At dinner tonight, my husband and family regaled in hearing me describe today’s adventure. I am proud to say I went on a “mushroom hunting expedition,” and I am still alive after eating those delicious Chanterelles!

LAUGHTER AND TEARS – PART 1

My music is a form of expression that is not about creating a “hit” or contemporary song. I believe that all of my songs are a musical about my life. I do want them to be relatable, but my purpose is to express emotion with lyrics and music that connect to my soul. I have been slowly allowing another song to emerge from the “musical seeds” composed during my youth. I decided something could develop from a haunting, chord progression I composed when I was eighteen. The melody was far too high, and when I transposed the chords – I could see the song would work. SOMEHOW I’M STILL PLAYING

Peaches said, “Judy there’s a reason for all of your songs being rediscovered. Another way to look at it is that they were seeds. They weren’t ready to be planted a long time ago, and you couldn’t grow them until they were ready. Now those seeds can blossom, because you finally planted them during this magical time in your life. It is so beautiful that you can nurture and grow them now!”

THE BEAUTY REMAINS

My songs, Memory of Love and Beside Me Always reflect this. I’ve decided my song can still be beautiful, even if the theme is repetitive. As I finished my last line of lyrics, the memories flooded back. My song was originally written about a young girl being given a seashell memento by her lover – so I thought! However, as I sang my song, I flashed back to a day at the beach with my child. He was holding a seashell to add to his collection. Continue reading
