LIFE AND DEATH ARE A MYSTERY

I have characterized my transformation from a year ago as one of going from being zombie-like to joyful. However, recently I realized that this was not the only transformation I have ever experienced. As a result of grief, I was forever changed. I have never delved into describing those changes before.
Although I am joyful, I am not at all innocent as I was before I suffered from grief. The horror of grief slaughtered my innocence and enlightened me about life and death. For me, the best way to share my feelings about life and death is by writing a parable. Continue reading

I KNOW YOU’D TELL ME

I called my dad in the afternoon and he sounded terrible, but he said I had woken him up and that was why. When his nurse called me around dinnertime she told me what I expected; he needed to go immediately to the hospital. She said he was close to death. Continue reading

THE WONDERFUL METAPHORS – PART 2

At my last hypnotherapy appointment, I shared with Connie my story about how I rescued a rabbit stuck in a fence. The metaphor that I took from that story was how having calmness and courage led to the best possible outcome. This week when I had a lot of additional stress from my teenagers and parents I reminded myself of something Connie had suggested. She reminded me how nice it would be if I could treat myself the same way I treated that trapped bunny. I tried hard to be loving, gentle, and reassuring to myself.

YOU ALWAYS RETURN

What words could she write? She always began to write lyrics by scrawling anything that came to mind. She searched for words to explain how her “ache” felt and they came to her. The new lyrics held exquisite rhymes, never an easy feat for a songwriter. She always avoided clichés whenever possible. Her song was born! She felt amazement that no chords or melody had ever existed for this song before; it was completely new. She had a lot of difficulty playing her song without crying.
