MORE THAN YOU KNOW – PART 2

Although I thought the original arrangement for my song “More Than You Know” was quite beautiful, it dragged. I felt that my song had great potential if it were more up-tempo. I love expanding my musical horizons. I made an appointment with my arranger, George Reich. Initially, I told him he could simply work with the older arrangement and use it as a template for a faster song. We ended up arranging the song without my guitar playing as the underlying basis, and that gave us many more options. As George experimented with different sounds, the arrangement that developed was decidedly different. I am very enthused as I share my newest version of a song I wrote so long ago. THE GIFT THAT I WAS GIVEN

It was when I became a writer, that I achieved clarity in my life. Expressing my feelings has completely changed my thought process. For decades, I faced constant challenges and considered it “weak” to express my feelings; I felt like it was a luxury to do that. I still have challenges, but have chosen to see that sharing my feelings allows me to feel more connected to lifeI am still first and foremost a songwriter. I might be very focused upon my book, but when I give birth to a song – I am stopped in my tracks. The whole process fills me with amazement. I cannot control it. The music that has healed me continues to play in my life. My innermost feelings surfaced again this past week as a new melody began to play and the lyrics unfolded. My new inspirational song expresses how grateful I am that I turned my life around. Continue reading →

DRIFTING DREAMS IN A COOL, WISPY SKY

Just like the importance of vibe with singing, I knew that I needed to feel my words. I certainly did when I recorded Jason’s story. However, with 32 stories and a lot of words to read, I honestly did not put in the effort required on every story to “feel” all those words. I decided I could inject more emotion into my earlier recordings. The “catch” in my voice and tearful moments made a huge difference for the listener. Continue reading →

I ESCAPE IN MY MIND

I decided it was time for me to take a break. I needed to get outdoors. I contacted my friend, Carol, whom I have enjoyed hiking with on two other occasions over this past year. It turns out that it has been exactly one year since we reconnected after not seeing each other for over thirty years. It was a beautiful way to celebrate that one-year anniversary.
