NO WORDS FOR YOU-PART 1

I am a singer/songwriter clearly who was influenced by the music of the 1970’s. One of the songs I used to sing was “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” I’m certain that was my inspiration for “No Words” was that song. RETREAT – PART 1

I began recording Retreat a week ago and I was completely open to making it sound a little more contemporary. I was curious whether George would prefer my original lyric line or my more “inspirational” lyric change. Originally I had sang, “At those times I’d wish you were there, but you never were.” I had changed it to: “At those times I’d wish you were there, and then you’d appear.”

Peaches liked my original lyric line. Because I wasn’t sure who was actually appearing for me, I was tempted to go back to it. George chose my newer, more upbeat line. Continue reading →

I REMEMBER YOU STILL LOVE ME

Lastly, I went out alone to dinner with my husband last night. I asked him if he wanted to know anything about a song I’d written that “involves him.” He answered exactly as I knew he would. He said, “Don’t embarrass me. I’d rather not hear about it!” Such is love when you have been married thirty years!

WHAT IS LEFT SINCE YOU DIED

I feel like I always say the same things over and over in regards to grief. There are a few “truisms” for me, but generally those are not even my own ideas.
