RETREAT – PART 1
I began recording Retreat a week ago and I was completely open to making it sound a little more contemporary. I was curious whether George would prefer my original lyric line or my more “inspirational” lyric change. Originally I had sang, “At those times I’d wish you were there, but you never were.” I had changed it to: “At those times I’d wish you were there, and then you’d appear.”
Peaches liked my original lyric line. Because I wasn’t sure who was actually appearing for me, I was tempted to go back to it. George chose my newer, more upbeat line. Continue reading
IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN-PART 1
I am able to share more background on “It Might Have Been.” The three verses speak to my relationship with Michael. The first verse was our romance. The second verse was when I left him, because he was far too serious for me. Then there was the last verse. I wrote: “It might have been, when I called to you in my pain . . .” In 1980, I was in a car accident about a block from my home. It was a painful experience for me at that time in my life.
