CHILDISH DREAMS

Yesterday, I had a beautiful exchange with Joni regarding my last post. I decided to move the poem over here and share our exchanges. If I could summarize what was most meaningful for me, it would be how my friend overcame her childhood trauma. She suffered a lot as a child. Instead of dwelling on her painful memories, she moved forward. She turned her life into one filled with promise and love. There was no bitterness within her. That is a beautiful story for me. BORDERING ON TEARS

When people hear that I sleep so few hours, they often tell me that it is not possible to function that way. I smile with the knowledge that those people are welcome to their beliefs and can continue give themselves that message if they so choose. I prefer to tell myself a different message. My message is that I have more energy than I ever did before when I slept more and was sad. Continue reading

I’M TRYING TO BE STRONG

I loaded the groceries into my car and listened to my most recent song recordings. It was when I was driving home from the market, that I allowed my pain to erupt. I knew I had not written for a while and that it was time for me to write for therapy. But I wasn’t sure how to write about what I was feeling.

I CRY AS YOU LEAVE

It was a beautiful morning as I entered Connie’s backyard for our hypnotherapy session. The summer’s warmth had not yet penetrated; I appreciated the coolness and noticed the lovely flowers in the garden as I entered her guesthouse. Before coming to our appointment, I had visited my father who was in a separate nursing facility from my mother. He had only recently been discharged from the hospital. I drove to my appointment listening to my new song. My song was more beautiful than anything I could have ever imagined. Continue reading
