GUITAR TIDES

So excited to share my newest musical creation! Tides are a great metaphor for “going with the flow.”

Judy Unger Music

The 4-chord melody for Guitar Tides was composed last year. I put it aside when I couldn’t seem to expand it beyond those chords. Instead, I found myself energized to work on “Autumn Hope” so I discarded those 4 chords in the key of A.

Once “Autumn Hope” was finished, I wondered whether I had another guitar instrumental in me. I went back to play those 4 chords and felt inspired to add a few more bars. As more and more passages were revealed, the song expanded beautifully. I didn’t have any idea what to name it, so for 6 months, I called it my “new piece in the key of A.”

It took patience for me to decide when my song was truly finished. Eventually, it felt complete and I recorded the main guitar part in August. But it still wasn’t done. I wanted to explore guitar additions. In…

I know nothing about music, except what I like, and I definitely like this! Plus the photo is wonderful.

  2. Dear Judy,

What a lovely piece of music your solo work called “Guitar Tides” is! Thank you very much for featuring it here for us to enjoy.

When I first listened to it, there were sounds in my left earphone and none in the right, as the wave sounds can only be heard on one side. I thought that there was something wrong with my headphones and proceeded to examine and adjust them. Only when the calming guitar solo started did I realise that my headphones were fine all along.

Wishing you a productive November and a wonderful weekend doing or enjoying whatever that satisfies you the most, whether intellectually, musically, artistically, physically or spiritually!

    Yours sincerely,
    SoundEagle

Thank you so much for your comments, SoundEagle! You had me laughing about the ocean sounds coming on one side in the beginning. I do like to pan left and right and I didn’t realize how that might be perceived when the song starts out, until the guitar comes in. But I am glad you were able to enjoy it and I appreciate your words very much! I’m also wishing you a beautiful November and I look forward to your upcoming blog posts!

      • Dear Judy,

You are welcome. I suppose that (even) a creature like SoundEagle can be silly and funny at times! And it is my pleasure that I am your laughing stalk. Moreover, I shall affectionately call you not the “Dancing Queen” but the “Panning Queen“!

I am inclined to conclude that the wave sounds had been panned too much to the left at the start of the music, as far as my sound engineering background and expertise are concerned. However, if this was indeed the effect that you sought, then I shall have to beware of being caught acting silly by you in your more unusual pieces from now on. 😉

Although I publish new posts infrequently, you are very welcome to revisit and to submit further comments to existing posts from time to time, as I always improve and expand them time and again, regardless of how long ago they were first published. For example, you can now savour a great deal more newly added contents at my very culturally significant post entitled “🌕🎴 Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節): Moon Celebration 🌅🎑🏮🎐🥮🈷️”. I hope that you have already tried some delicious mooncakes. They can be your cultured delicacies consumed between your musical sessions. Yum Yum Yummmmy!

        Yours sincerely,

This is your “Panning Queen!” Ha ha! I am enjoying the laughter, SoundEagle!
I do like doing some unconventional things with my music. Therefore, just having you wondering about the sound was worth it. I like adding this bit of intrigue.
Thank you for reminding me about mooncakes. I need to make an effort to find them and enjoy their deliciousness!
