SAYING GOODBYE

Copyright 2018 by Judy Unger

So few words, and so much to say

A part of me is gone; it left with you that day

Now it’s all over, and the flowers have all died

You’ll never be replaced and the hole remains inside

I knew losing you wouldn’t be easy; I always expected to cry

But I should have known; how hard it is just saying goodbye

A bad dream, just another nightmare

I wish that I’d wake up, and somehow you’d still be there

But I’m praying softly; I’m trying to be strong

I can’t live in the past, because something went wrong

I knew losing you wouldn’t be easy; I always expected to cry

But I should have known; how hard it is just saying goodbye

The memories are forever, locked inside my mind

the hardest thing of all, is to leave your touch behind

I knew losing you wouldn’t be easy; I always expected to cry

But I should have known; how hard it is just saying goodbye

I knew losing you wouldn’t be easy; I always expected to cry

I should have known; how hard it is just saying goodbye

How hard it is just saying goodbye; how hard it is just saying

goodbye . . .

These lyrics were written 35 years ago for my song “Saying Goodbye.” I found a lot of papers that my father saved of mine. I originally wrote “Saying Goodbye” after breaking up with my future husband in 1979.
