#75 MY EXPERIENCES AS A FOOD ARTIST – PART 1

I’m excited to share another story-telling performance. This one was about being a food artist. I’m sure I’ll have many other stories to tell later on about my art career!

Judy's avatarILLUSTRATING MY LIFE

Last night, I told a short story about my art career. The theme was food – so that was perfect for a food illustrator like me. I even had my make up done professionally beforehand for fun!

I loved my ending – how after four decades my art went from being a job, to being a joy!

You know I love storytelling, Judy, so this is right up my alley. I’m glad you answered a question I’d wondered, too…about why not just photograph the produce/food. But your answer makes perfect sense, and also you can be more creative with art.

    This was also very entertaining.

And say what??? These stories really do show how manipulative people in the arts can be.

Thank you so much, Katherin! I actually felt that I fell short on that question! LOL, I had more posters that I forgot to share. The hot dogs and burgers I did for AM/PM were gross and I made them from scratch to appear appetizing? I was initially bummed that I forgot to share them, but now I have compiled a whole other story about different art jobs. I think I’ll have lots more to tell!
This story-telling is great memory practice, as I do not read from a script and just tell it on the fly. I’m actually doing one tonight about my mazes and I’m excited about it. This time, I have my posters carefully laid out and it actually really helps me tell the story better.
So aside from the “artist conception” bs, I also did a lot of designing to fit the illustration into a label. That required considerable tweaking and “back and forth,” which until there was Photoshop would have been quite difficult back in the day.
