I composed the three vocal songs for this medley as a teenager. All these songs are beautiful tributes to young love, despite my doubts for the future. These long ago songs are part of my life story, which I often views as the musical of my life.
“You’re Not the One” was a difficult song to write. I did not want to hurt my boyfriend, and didn’t know how to express my true feelings. After we broke up for the final time, I felt sad and relieved. However, years later my ex-boyfriend discovered my song “You’re Not the One” on this very blog! It was a stunning moment in my life that opened up a wonderful dialog between us. He has been a devoted friend and I am grateful that we reconnected.
I composed “Meant to Me” as young girl. Even though I had doubts about enduring love, I was certain that this love was a pivotal part of my life that I would always remember and cherish.
“It Might Have Been” is about all the reasons I decided to marry the man I chose. It’s a very haunting and nostalgic song and truly represents my appreciation of everything romantic.
